Christmas in Vegas

24 12 2008

Sorry it’s been a while since I posted anything.  I knew nursing school was going to be hard, but I didn’t realize that it was going to be this hard. I’m sure it doesn’t help that I’m not naturally smart like some of the nursing students in my class. They can pass tests with flying colors without opening a book or studying the night before. On the other hand, I work my butt of from morning till night just to simply pass the test, not to get an A. But it will all be worth it in the end. Like my friend says, “an ‘A’ nursing students don’t make  the best nurses.” I absolutely love being in the hospital. The old senile people are my all time favorite so far. They are just too cute… except when I have to clean beds with diarrhea all over it and the patient is bed ridden. Got to love those days!

It’s been so nice being able to finally breath again and not having to work so hard just to keep my head above water. James and I drove out late friday night to Vegas to spend christmas with his family. This will be the first time away from my family for the holidays. It’s a little different but I am still enjoying it all. Saturday night James and I had the joy of having a sleep over with our nieces at my mother-in-law’s house. We has so much fun playing games and baking cupcakes. I will have to post pictures later when I upload them. Moneek is 7, and as of yesterday, Mariah is 3. What is so weird for me is that they call me Auntie Ruth…. Im and aunt and I love it!!!! And on top of being an aunt I finally get to have a sister. Ever since I was a little girl I would beg my mom to have an other baby so I could have a sister. Jessica is 24 and married to Justin and has three kids, including Moneek and Mariah.

Yesterday James’s mom and I left James to himself and we had a girls day. After doing some last minute shopping we met up with Aunt Leeanne and Jessica for lunch at chili’s and then went back to Aunt Leeanne’s house to bake christmas cookies and decorate them… one of my all time favorite things to do during the holidays. James has been talking about these cookies since I met him. They are just as good as I expected! After baking we loaded up in the car and drove through christmas lights. It was a great day with the girls… I inherited a great family! I look forward to more times like these in the future.

Here is a picture of of the girls, little J.T. and Jessica at Aunt Leeanne’s decorating the famous cookies. I will post mine later.
