you say goodbye…. i say Yelo

13 01 2009

This past weekend my brother-in-law came out to Phoenix with a team from Mosaic to host a Yelo conference for our student leaders here at Canyon along with Southwesterns student leaders.  The conference was geared towards our strengths and talents and helped shed some light on who we are and how God has wired us.  It was quite an insightful conference and I am very thankful to have been a part of it.

I was challenged as a leader to take a look not only at myself but also at how I lead others.  It seems weird but it was the first time that I really stopped to look at how I was actually leading others and questioned myself as to wether or not I was leading people in a way that played to their different talents and strengths.  As we all know that all of us are wired differently and it wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense to try and lead everyone the exact same way.  Grant it I know that I can not cater to everyone but at the same time can set up opportunities to allow people to flourish in their talents.  It was a great “ah-ha” moment I had when it came to leading others.

So to the team of people that took time out of their busy lives to come out to Phoenix and share with us I thank you.  The students loved you guys and appreciated what you guys had to say.  I just hope now we can each continue to flourish in our talents and strengths and be who WE are wired to be in whichever field we pursue.
